Does anyone happen to know what current draw is normal upon wake up of the 545 E60, 2004 with steptronic tranny?
I am getting 70 amps with door open and when the door is closed it gradually drops down to 20 amps, till sleep mode gets activated and then drops to the normal milliamps (due to tolerance of my amp clamp reads nill then) as it cannot read milliamp on the 100Amp scale.
But the 70 or 20 amps seem rather high but maybe I am dating myself with older model cars here....LOL

70 amps? Ooerr... maybe an issue with the clamp meter. Mine was connected inline.
My 530 E60 draws about 6amps when unlocked, drops down to about 1 amp when locked, then to a few milliamps when it goes to sleep about 15mins later.
I should add that my IBS is disconnected. When connected it continues to use about 5 amps even when sleeping, resulting in a flat battery overnight.
Hope this helps.

Discovered my IBS is the "new and improved "version and does not appear to be a problem as I have disconnected it and no change in readings have been noticed and during sleep mode with the IBS connected I do not have any abnormal readings, however I did since discover that I have an option called: " heated driver side lock" and since the readings I took were below freezing temps was wondering if that would be a valid reason but cannot imagine that heater drawing such a current to account for the excess. Also have managed since to read the codes and nothing stands out pertaining to excess current draw. Almost seems like a software issue to me now.
27EE CAN-Timeout Instrumentenkombination
284F failure at speed-display kombi
2774 Monitoring cyc. failurestoring
299B IBS communication (This I suspect occurred when I disconnected the IBS some time ago)
P2610 Engine off timing
27F2 Plausibility gas level
They occurred in the above order.
Any ideas about this??
Also have since taken the DME out and checked all wiring painstakingly and nothing noticeable there either.
Should mention reason I am doing all this is here:

If you want to see it happening while parked, google : " instrumentclusterfuck"

As far as the OP's original question... don't have a clue. Sorry
