2004. Badge still looks shiny badge but with a big dent in it where my wife hit it when some kids ran out onto the road.

Ugh! Can't even put a sticker on it as the dent would show...

The sticker will not affect the airbag, the airbag does not just come out of that little circle.
I am pretty sure he meant the the metal overlay roundel being catapulted directly into your face at a very velocity.
I guess that could happen, but will take my chances and assume the overlay will stay glued onto the original roundel when the airbag explodes.

2004 and looks brand-new. Must be your driving style dude? You probably have your hand over it all the time. Massaging it.........
Hahaha I love my baby but not that much! Actually I just got this in Jan as a CPO, it's a 2006. Maybe that's what the previous driver was doing? I actually had a closer look at it during lunch today and most of the shiny metal parts look worn down (BMW text and round circle).

I may look into the Ebay solution, thanks guys!

I hardly use my car and never have my hand on the roundel on the wheel but it still looks like its got a lot of internal crack marks in it.
Actually, that's more like what mine looks like but the cracks are only on the metallic areas.

+1, until I tried to remove it.

Luckily it only ended up with a slight scratch.
Now I've got a CF overlay roundel over it,
can't even tell the difference.
Is this the one you bought?

Watch how you "use the horn".. I had this problem on my Mustang about a month after I bought it. Some jackass cut me off and I punched the steering wheel to blow the horn. I looked at it later that day, and the Mustang emblem (metallic/chrome behind plastic) now is full of "cracks"...

That explains it then. I was just sitting in my car measuring my roundel, 45mm btw, and trying to figure out how the previous owner could've make it crack *on the inside* since the outer clear plastic shell is in great condition, still looks new and no scratches.
