Black looks great, but hard to keep clean, and absorbs a lot of heat on sunny days.

Silver or grey are not quite as eye-catching IMHO, but easier to keep clean, and cooler in the sun.

hey, an e60 is an e60. to me, it dont matter what what model you have. you will definitely enjoy this BMW and thats all that matters right?! as far a color goes, i'd say go black be it sapphire or carbon or jet (is this the same as carbon?). this is one of the toughest colors to take care of but when done right, its beatiful, especially at night!!

As far as i know, carbon black and jet black are different colors (or they were on the e46 M3's).
From what I could tell, the carbon black had a blue-ish tint to it in the sun (I would call it midnight blue but thats just me) and jet black is your normal dark and sexy black.

And for your color car, it's whatever tickles your fancy. Don't get a color because someone else tells you to.
Jet black is sexy, plain and simple, but extremely hard to keep clean. It shows waxing swirls really well.
I have a silver grey metallic and love it, but I also love the space grey metallic which is a little darker than mine.
My favorite e60 color definitely has to be Alpine White though. It relatively easy to keep clean and when matched with the proper accessories it is absolutely stunning.

PS. Where did you get the impression that we frown upon 520d's??
