My car is going in for a software update this evening ( mainly to add MP3 & hopefully make my iPhone work ) and the SA said if there were any options I wanted coding to let them know when I drop the car off.

The only one I specifically want is for my folding mirrors to automatically fold when I lock and unlock the car but what other options are there ? Am I missing out on any cool coding options.

How does the folding mirrors option work from the key? One-click locks the car as usual, and one extra click folds the mirrors? And unlock always unfold?

i wonder if we would be able to get the new iDrive system when it comes out?

 

If you press and hold the centre of the fob ie the BMW emblem the mirrows will fold up, you will need to check though that the coding is already in your system, my M5 just needed it programming in then they worked a treat

Well this topic is all irrelevant now as the car went in last night so the only option I've asked for is auto folding mirrors.

We'll have to see how it all pans out I guess.

Just a stupid question... How do you know which software version your iDrive is? Any way of checking it via the iDrive?

It is a dealer option, if your car has this you can get the Dealer to program it in, you cannot access it through the IDrive.
