what caused the loss of headlight eyebrow

My Ride: E60 520i
a friend of mine got pre owned E60... but the eyebrow doesnt light up.... dealer says he needs some programming.... is this true? what causes the eyebrow not to light up???

Just upgrade the software to the most recent version at the dealership and it will work fine.
