Thanks to all who replied to my similar post. What I actually meant was what similarly sized/priced/speced car would you buy instead of a 5 series i.e A6, E class, QX infiniti etc etc. If the five was not available? God forbid

If I did not have the 530xi on order, I would be waiting for a 2006 Lexus GS300 AWD. Its a nice package at a reasonable price.

If i could get one to the UK - Holden commodore VX - big block aussie v8 rocket with a corvette engine.. nice and real cheap.. like in full trim 60% the price of my e60..

if not then a Merc... probably new e-class diesel when it gets released, they have some really surprisingly high output diesels on the way !

the new 2005 GS430 for me....that car looks amazing on the raod but of course not as nice as the 545i
