Hey guys I have an 06 550 SMG. What are the best shifting points to achieve the best 0-60 time?

That is actually untrue. Someone did a quite detailed analysis of this and turns out the best shift point for a 550 I believe was 6200 or so.

Redline shifting is not always the best since it will not always optimize the time spent in the meat of the torque curve.

For example if you shift at redline through gears 1 to 2. Your revs will be higher in gear 2. If you shift at a lower rpm your revs in gear 2 will be lower. Therefore you want to shift at a point where it puts you into the meat of your torque curve however balance that with time-spent in the torque meat. So it is a bit technical but most cars are NEAR redline but you may want to play around with 1000k less than redline and move up from there.

On a 530 for example the ideal shift point is at 6800 and not the 7k redline.

use the smg launch control aka acceleration assist and it'll shift for you...should produce a good 0-60 time.

I was thinking about that, but does it produce wheel spin on take-off?

yeah it just dumps the clutch.
however, the automatic upshifts feels much more brutal (and perhaps faster) than what we can achieve in manual mode, so maybe that'll make up for it.

i guess just try it and see what you think...

Ya if you dont have excellent grip... even with good grip it spins the wheels like nuts...

Do a burn out. I've become quite the expert these days with 465 lb-ft torque.
