What are the benefits of CIP v25?

I have my car at the dealers getting something else done and thought this might be a good time to upgrade to the latest CIP v25. I was told that they do this only on an as needed basis. I explained that there were issues with the CD player and they agreed to do the upgrade ( I don't even own a CD, it's AM news radio but mostly sports radio. Go Sox!) Anyway, my question is what benefits can I expect from the upgrade? Is there any downside? Thanks.
