it was on my previous ride (545) and like you say on the LCI M5, so just presumed nothing had changed.

I was getting all excited about a feature I didn't notice, then realised its not in the LCI
I might ask our fleet manager if I can have my pre-LCI back for the day to check this out
I'd always wondered why BMW didn't have a temperature gauge feature, but it turns out I had one for 18 months and didn't even notice
Maybe I will read the manual one of these days.... maybe

Not much usefulness to it, but I still thought it was a cool feature. (Even though I've never owned a BMW before this one.)

Guys, I have an 08 535i LCI and i still have this kind of temp guage. It's pretty interesting how they have this kind of guage on a turbo car while practically BMW should put a digital temp guage since the N54 TT engine runs alot hotter. Especially with a tune, it's advisable to have a digital guage since these things aren't that reliable.
