Make sure your carpets and padding are completely dried out on the passenger side... you have an unbelievable amount of super sensitive electronics, modules and sensors under there... not to mention the entire main wiring harness... good luck!

My flooded 545...

If you have access to a dehumidifier I wouldn't put it in the car itself. It may heat up to the point of ignition. Recently, a Porsche owner with a wet interior burned his house down after putting a fan on the upholstery of his convertible to dry out the interior. He left it overnight, so please be careful. I would leave the car for at least a week to dry out naturally. To judge, put 1/4 of a glass of water in the garage. When it dries out chances are the car will be dry as well.

I agree 1000% the quicker you get it dry the less damage you will get. And of course do not apply heat.

This is going to severely hurt the resale/trade value of the car, as the water damage will show on carfax. It is imperative that you dry the interior as quickly as possible. I suggest renting an industrial de-humidifier and put in the garage, with all doors open. This will still take a week for the whole car to dry out.

Unfortunately, in order to properly restore the car, I suggest removing the carpet and using an enzymatic cleaner on carpet and the metal floorboards. This is the only way to ensure that the "smells" are gone and never return. 1-2 inches of water is a significant amount and in most cases is deemed as flood damage.

I have successfully purchased and restored 3 flood damaged cars and resold them, so if you need any help, let me know.

Amazing how quickly everything seems to be returning to normal. The car is in my garage with everything opened for the entire week while I'm gone. Last night most everything looked 80% better. Talked to a collegue at work who is in rework and he said it should all be ok just let it dry out. The one thing that seems to stick out is the front seat. The leather seems harder and has lost it's nice feel. I guess like a baseball glove when it gets wet. Two door panels are still a little wavy but not as bad as they were. So I will wait till the insurance co has a look.

I literally had a black cloud over my head this weekend when I was leaving the base just outside the gate I hitca pot hole and bent my front left rim and deflated the tire! Now the rim s getting repaired ...

Wow, Tony. I'm sorry to hear about your bad weekend. Though, it sounds like everything will be back to normal soon.

ha ya... the Porsche owner was a very well known figure skater.. lives in Toronto. That was a good laugh. I believe it was a boxster too LOL This happened in my last car (325i) with black interior ... it dried up with a couple nice sunny days and you'd never knew it happened. Though I did dry it off and use some leather care stuff. I had my sunroof and all windows wide open for a torrential downpour. Thought she was done but nope.. never knew it happened and I drove it home over 500km that night... one wet as$ drive!

Give her a go with your leather treatment.. don't use the cleaner, she needs some oils.. work in a few coats and it'll come back to new.

OK the adjuster will arrive on Friday and my intent is to have him replace the following:

Front seat leather - this is the multi position seat with all the bells and whistles
Pass front seat - same as above

Left door panel -
Armrest -black leather
leather side above armrest beige

Right rear pass door - same as above

Pass front door wood trim

center console wood trim poplor wood

possible carpet change don't want it stinking later...

Floor mats same as above

I was playing around in the REAL BMW Parts but I'm not that fmailiar with it... Just the door panel I came up with ~ $217.00 for the wood trim, $217.00 for the armrest and Side panel leather was $816.00 Totaling ~ $1,250.00

If any of you are proficient in this system and want to play around perhaps take a look at what I have listed and see what you come up with for total repair cost. Obviously this does not include any labor...

Thanks! Tony
