I've been in Beijing and Shanghai for almost two weeks now. My friends say that the BMWs that I've seen are manufactured in China. Is that correct?

I thought they were all made (the real ones!!) in Germany
BMW manufactures their cars in China for the local market including even 7'ers.
And no, not all BMW's are made in Germany, the USA makes the X series and South
Africa makes 3'ers, etc.

I always thought Malaysia also assembled a few BMW models for the local market. Not sure if they still do these days. I woudlnt really call them fake since these cars originate from the parent company BMW. If some chinese car company makes a car so that it resembles a BMW, then yes... I would brand that a fake.
