So I took my car to the stealership yesterday for an oil change and interval "service". I drive my car out of the driveway this morning and find a puddle of oil where my car was parked. Drove straight to the dealer and was told that it looks like the "crush ring" was damage after they drained the oil. They didn't even check for leaks before they returned the car to me.
Took it back this morning, and yes, they fixed it. What a waste of my morning though! I can't stand this kind of thing... I'm going to make them give me a free detail..
This was McKenna BMW in Norwalk, CA btw. If you're willing to drive a little further for service, I recommend New Century BMW in Alhambra, CA.

If your paint is still in good shape with minimal swirl marks/scratches/holograms, then may be it's best to stay away from the dealer's free detail job. Chances are their detailers might/will induce more swirl marks onto your paint...check out autopia for more horror stories about dealer's detailing on cars.

You do not want a dealers detail - expecially a free one! Most of us make sure the dealer doesn't even wash the car for us after a service!

Sounds like the tech forgot to put "crush ring" all-together, you can't damage this ring, you strip the plug first. If they have someone come in (3rd party) to do the detail, that's OK.

Sorry to say this ,but McKenna in Norwalk is the worst. They were the one who made me pay for a new battery when my car was still under warranty with under 9,000 miles and less than one year old from purchase date (and I did paid out of my pocket because I did not know about this forum). Two years later, I found out they did not register the battery when I had to replace for a new one. After they replaced my ignition coil, that's when I discovered two valve cover bolts were broken off. To top it off, they replaced my Beverly Hills license plate frame with theirs (Mckenna BMW) without my permission. I did not notice about it until a week later. Anyways, that was just my personal experiences.
However, they often send coupons on parts and services to my house, which I like. But, I go there only for parts if I must...
So far, BMW in Long Beach and Beverly Hills are the best.
Sorry about your experience, but I would not take any free services from them. You could end up paying for some other repairs later.
Good luck!
