You should tell them. " you need a condom to do what you're doing to me"

Read the battery info on this site. I replaced my original with a $94 Autozone replacement 3 years ago, no dealer , and all is well.

Find a good INDY who knows late-model BMWs.

My wife has the '07 530xi and had the same "seep". More than likely it's the "mechatronic" sleeve that feeds electrical wires into the transmission. It's a $20 part. The O-rings fail well before 100k miles. This is a common problem.

If they include a new filter kit (built-in to the pan), 6 quarts of ZF Lifeguard6 fluid, and $20 Mechatronic sleeve, I'd say it's worth $700. I had to remove the exhaust system and disconnect the front drive shaft (all-wheel drive) to get access to the sleeve. Parts alone are under $300.

This includes a transmission fluid change, which would be a good idea at 75k miles--since the mechanic is already in there for the sleeve. BMW says your transmission has "Lifetime" fluid but a lot of us don't buy that. I did the service on my wife's XI at about this mileage. If you don't specify this service the old fluid will be put back into your transmission.

I included photos of the Mechatronic sleeve and other incidental parts that must be replaced.

Good luck!

Idler pulley (good idea to replace at same time) P/N 11287535860---------$23

Total: $89 in parts plus shipping ($10)

All parts are OEM, not the cheap aftermarket.

My notes said I pulled the electric fan, which was the only semi-difficult part.

Look for an INDY to do this for < $200, including a new idler pulley.

I had exact same experience at Riverside CA BMW. Car warranty just expired (CPO) and they hit me up for over $3000 worth of repairs. Mind you I had it in less than six months prior and they didn't find any of that while it was under warranty!? I hate dealerships they lost any future business they would have gotten from me that day.
