nope it terminated about 12-15 inches away in the frame.

Gas weld would get everything too hot. Wire feed is the best. Just crank the amps up to get a good soak.

Nope. That's the washer fluid overflow tube.

Wire feeder welder - I presume its MIG welding (using CO2). It can look pretty if its welded correctly. Make sure you prepare a bit before welding. Grind the edge so you can have the welding bead right into it. You may add small bar or strip to add strength. Check with him if he can do a 'TIG' welding which will look much better more cleaner and less impurities. Make sure he connects the earth (-ve) as close as to the welding area.

Well the short test drive felt good, I'm going to run down to pch and see how a longer trip goes.
