Isnt it nice to receive a thoughtful, clever gift? I just rec'd my welcome kit for my 2 month old 550i. I don't remember what I rec'd after my first E60, but this kit made me smile.

Included is a cool DVD called "passion for Performance" w/ all kinds of behind the scenes sections. Only viewed it briefly , but I enjoyed the logistics of assembly. Also bunch of CD's for road trips with call TED talks featuring leading thinkers and doers in fields of tecnology. entertainment and design. There is a owners circle book w/bunch of general ownership info too.

But the part I got a kick out of is a little book called "uniquely BMW". This gem includes BMW factoids such as:

History of Hoffmeister kink ( named after design director Wilhelm Hoffmeister this styling cue made its debut on the 1500 model in 1961 and can be seen on nearly every BMW since), history of all "E" model designations ( E from the german word Entwicklung which means development or evolution), Technology of Leipzig plant, etc.

Pretty cool.

I received that kit as well. I especially enjoyed the wallet sized card that has your cars info on it. Have not gotten around to viewing the discs yet.

Nice car bud. My 530i is pure sex, but it has zero balls. So you ask: "how can something that is pure-sex have zero balls?". Thats easy, because I drive it! Wait, that didn't sound right...

Anyways, grats on a great car and welcome!

I agree. I got that about a month after picking up my car. The history of the "Hoffmeister kink" is pretty interesting. I find myself looking at the same location on other makes just to compare.
Also, the photo of that manufacturing plant with cars being assembled above office floor was very cool. I cannot recall the name of the plant, but I would love to see it in person.

When I didn't get mine after 5 months I called BMW Customer Service and complained. Then I got one.
