Weird - Lights come on with passenger door !

My Ride: 520d saloon, manual 6 ratios, olivin metallic, star spoke 122 alloys, delete boot badge, bi-xenon adaptive headlights including washers, graduated tinted windscreen, exterior and interior mirror auto dimming plus electric folding door mirrors, extended light package, dakota beige leather, dark poplar wood, electric seat adjustment including memory function, heated front seats, advanced climate control, velour floor mats, sliding front armrest, lumbar support for front seats.

I noticed a strange thing tonight for the first time after having my E60 for over a year now. I opened the passenger front door to get something out of the armrest storage. Whilst in the car I put the key fob in the ignition and then took it out to get out of the car. By dong this the rear and front lights illuminated even after I closed the passenger door until the car was locked. As I had not seen this before I tried to do the same by opening the driver's door instead but the lights did not come and ti was the same with the door rear doors.
I repeated it again with the front passenger door and again the lights came on. Does anyone know the reason for this - it looks like some kind of safety feature but not sure why it only works with one of the four doors?
