So the last few times when I start my e60 and turn on the radio (already on the iPod option) I have noticed it automatically is on the random setting. I manually take it off the random setting and continue driving, park the car>start it up again (anything from 10 minutes to 10 hours parked), and again it's on "random". started happening about 3 weeks ago. doesn't happen all the time, but enough to notice. Yes my ipod itself is on shuffle songs, but this never used to happen before. I did upgrade my iPod firmware about the same time this started, perhaps it was that.
A separate event happened 2 days ago: leaving the gym, plug in my ipod...it doesn't connect...the screen on my ipod is shifting between the huge check mark/"connected" screen and the ipod menu screen. Did a hard reset to my ipod>reconnected, same thing. Powered down the car and waited 5 minutes>reconnected, same thing. Finally decided to unplug the 6fl/"y" cord...and voila...good to go...
so anyone else have something similar to any of these situations and/or suggestions? (rudy, jspira, kscarrol, etc....)
I know, take it to the dealer, I will be taking the e60 in late dec/early jan for my annual service...hoping to get a SW update anyway (which will hopefully include the turbo lag fix)

I dont know if this will help you or not. When i had my Platnium Gray - my ipod feature worked fine!! When i got the Titanium Silver, it NEVER worked. NEVER - not one time. I asked other employees and they said they had never heard of it. In this car now, if i leave it connected and cut the engine off- it keeps playing until i manually turn the ipod off. I questioned it, and was told it was a software update. ---> But curious to how it would work fine in a early model, then not at all in a model, then again in a new model.
Yes - dealership time.

I would ask the dealer to try the latest version of the Y cable. That seems to fix myriad ills.

First, once it's connected, the iPod no longer controls itself so it isn't on shuffle unless something is very wrong.
