Pretty interesting, I actually got certified slips from the two places I used. When I accounted for the golf clubs, the 4 gallons of missing gas, and assorted junk, the car was 3809 lbs curb weight. This includes wheels and tires that are 56 lbs lighter than the OEM's, so with them it would have been 3865 lbs.

The 'official' curb weight is 3803 lbs, so looks like I've got 62 lbs of options.

Is that famous BMW 50/50 weight distribution with or without a full tank of gas? Guess it's 51/49 for the 545 so maybe you need to leave the clubs and a case of beer in the trunk

Usually, all their quoted weights are full fluids. Mine was full tank (I added 32 lbs for the missing 4 gallons).

Didn't get that camper - trunk extension with the case of beer for tailgate parties. I'm waiting for Iceman to report on it.

That's funny!

No time for tailgaiting... I'm working all gameday long...

Good info.

I read in another forum that BMW includes the weight of the driver in the curb weight. Is this not true?

Don't think so - not as curb weight is strictly defined. And those German technicians can weigh a lot!

It's been quite a while since my flying days but I seem to remember that we used 6 pounds per gallon of gasoline in our weight and balance calculations, etc.

That'll lessen your load by 8 pounds...

Yep, aviation gasoline is 6lb per gallon. I believe oil is 8lb to gallon.

Thanks,
Dave

You guys are absolutely correct - I was using water weight. From some obscure website, Premium unleaded is about 6.35 lbs per gallon - lower octane can go to 6.2 lbs per gallon, so I'll take 7 lbs off.
