Guys - I have noticed wear or stain on my driver's seat about at my belt line on the front of the seat back. I tried to remove it today with some leather cleaner, but it appears to be wear, rather than stain from my belts. I have the Beige Dakota Leather seats (std), and have shown no wear or problems otherwise.

Any one have any suggestions? Should I contact my dealer? Can they recolor the Beige on the seat? Any one else having this problem?

I had a similar problem with my E39 -- there was piping running down the center of the seat and it rubbed on my leather belt. After some time, it wore out the leather on the piping.

BMW replaced the entire leather (seat cover) under warranty...

Hi Rudy,

Did you call BMWNA, or just take it to the dealer?

Not sure if this will help, but I had someone leave a black candle on my beige leather seats in the Arizona sun. This made for a nice black tinting that took a long time to eliminate. In the end, placing a chamois, paper towel or some other very absorbent material over the stain with some weight on it (books) while the car was parked in the sun caused the stain to leach out of the leather and into said material.

Good luck... Maybe this will help.

I just took it to the dealer -- no need to contact BMWNA...

So I called and scheduled an appointment for other service, and said that my seat had a wear spot in it. They told me that it was not covered under warranty and gave me the phone number to a leather repair shop...Any suggestions?

I have the Platinum Merino leather, and after 8000 miles it's started to noticably 'sag' here and there. The seat already looks 'high mileage' and the car is 6 months old...

No wear marks though, thankfully.

I'd ask them to submit a Puma case to BMW to try to escalate things. I had my leather replaced (on an E39) without question under warranty for pretty much the exact issue. It sounds like your dealer isn't trying hard enough.

You may also try calling BMWNA to see if they have any position on the matter...

I have the black dakota leather in mine and only about 3 months old and I too noticed the excessive creasing of the leather, especially on the driver's seat. Would expect to see this only in a much higher mileage car.
