I am confused--will this work on a 2009 LCI model or only for earlier models?

So this really doesn't make a big difference unless you get the actual SAT software flash. Until you change that you won't get the real benefit of this mod. Even when you do get the software flash you don't need this mod. With the flash you will be in sport mode when you move the shifter to the left.

But it will work for an 2009? What I am after is the stiffer steering. Getting the transmission flash today but from reading that will not give me the steering piece-- hopefully will know more today. I had to disconnect my jb4 and try again !

Help

Yes found the LCI info on page like 41. Did it in 15 min and will try car tomorrow. Sadly no sport indicator on dash-- not surprised based on posts

this works in my car. What i did not see anywhere is although in an LCI it is pin #7 and #9, what is the one for the LED? I have a cheap switch that i will replace with something nicer, perhaps the Z3 switch but do not see the pin for the LED.

Did I miss that somewhere in the 62 pages? B)

Sorry guys. While I'm totally okay with the mod (it's pretty easy and the Sport button was installed very neatly on my console) I'm not convinced this does anything more than put "Sport" on your console and encourage you to step on it a bit more to get the right effect!

I have a 2004 525i. If anyone has a definitive TEST to ensure there is a difference, let me know. Example, 0-60 is this fast with/without sport, etc.

I think it's a very nice/easy/fun placebo.

I've got this on my 2005 525i, roskinc (lookup on youtube) provides info on install and some driving examples, but only on straights. It does not seem to do much for 0-60, although gear changes are sharper/overtaking is slightly intoxicating ;)

From my experience, accessible throttle out of corners on winding roads is what this sport mode is most suitable for, it's smooth and a joy on the mountain roads here in Melbourne Australia.

On another note, it seems to overtake DS mode, so you can use one or the other but not both, Sport button mode takes over if you're in DS and sport mode is on... But overall, it is a simple and fun install :D
