the way E60 was meant to be
Howdy!
Well...I have been waiting for the financing on a '07 525i to close..finally did! I bought the parts from Roskinc while I was waiting. Had the car for an hour, then this mod. All I can say is wow. It does work...that is a fact. I really notice the steering at slow speeds. I test drove the car and noticed with the A/C on without sport mode..the car is sluggish. with sport mode...huge difference!
Thanks for all of your input on this mod. First of many to come!

If all of these cars are capable/ready for 'sport' mode, I wonder why BMW didn't provide that button. It can't be that they are trying to save the cost of the switch... is it?
Chalk it up to people who take the time to research to reap the fruits of their labors!
Same goes for the heads up displays. The plugs and everything were there for them regardless of whether the car had the feature or not.

What's the difference between "sport" mode and DS mode? It feels like DS mode already sharpens throttle response and holds longer shifts. I played with sport mode vs DS mode yesterday on a 645ci and 2013 x3 but couldn't tell a noticeable difference in the way it accelerates/shifts in the city. I really want to try this to the 530 which does not have sport mode but not if it only makes a small difference

I have a SMG. It has a sport button. When I press, it's a whole different story lol. It's beast.

Interesting! This is worth a try; I'll just be using wires and a momentary close SPST switch and see how it goes. If I decide to do this mod I'll be using the Z4 sport switch (BMW part no. 61316953942) which I think will be easier to mount, and still be OEM.

Done!
One of the easiest mod; took me no more than 30 minutes. The Youtube video really helped a lot, especialy on how to unlock the plugged cables and the wire inserts for #8 and #10 pins. I simply used one of my old pc fan pin inserts, no need to buy OEM wires as recommended in the video. Oh BTW, make sure the door is open when reinserting the trim to avoid scratching the door switches trim.
Now it's time for testing.
