Ah, didn't catch the LCI

Just want to report my results on a 2006 530XI Wagon, 6spd manual tran. The effects of this simple mod affect both steering and acceleration on the manual transmission cars. The throttle lag is gone and the engine seems to respond much quicker once you get to 2000 rpm. It makes it addictive to accelerate quickly from a stop rather than the usual release the clutch... wait for it... wait for it... acceleration! I've had several other drivers notice the steering difference immediately. One of them drives a 330i with full sport package and she thinks the steering is more like her car with the SPORT button activated.
For the cost of a simple switch, some wire, and a 1/2 hour of work this mod is well worth the investment. My sincerest thanks to the original poster.

I have read all 27 pages and reviewed all pages a second time
I have an 08 550i Lci automatic with sports pac without paddles or button
i have dynamic drive
Just want to be sure before i pull the trigger and i am ready...
As I understand, the connector for my car is behind the glove box (A169) and I put a momentary switch between pins #7 & #9?
I was gonna get the spint booster and I am sick of the LAG in my 550

I'm in the same situation as you 530i LCI not yet done it, I have'nt read a single post here of anyone who has done it yet on a LCI

The confusion is that it's not the unit / connector behind the glovebox is not the place to connect it, I think if you look at the other pic it say you should connect it to the console switch box above the ashtray area.

Hopefully someone would confirm if this was successfully done and advise?

I read and read,
I see nothing confirmed about the proper LCI pin connector location
I will attempt if I get confirmation on the location of the connector!
If it is behind the ash tray, I will do it today!
Thanks

Ok,
I think AchtungE60 answered the ? on page 22 1st post!
I thought that was a seperate thing....

That seems more involved ie flashing of module etc. to get the dash display to light up with the correct icons and maybe a slightly different transmission mode.

But the concensus is that by just adding as switch will give you 90% of the "Sport" facility anyway such as stiffer steering, better throttle response and sportier transmission characteristics.

I've read elsewhere that fitting a complete SAT gearshift/ecu with sport button achieves the same result (but you don't get the Sport logo to appear with this method), I'm still undecided which one to go for now

maybe I read it wrong
the way I read it was this was the way to avtivate the LCI... idk maybe someone can confirm?
the others who were successful without the flash were pre-Lci
dont't have time today, but i will take a look behind the ash tray and try to locate the connector(pretty easy to disassemble)

behind the ashtray is for the early E60s. The LCI E60s won't have the connection there.......it should be behind the glovebox according to the picture in the original post.

A bit OT: anyone knows if this can be done on a E90? I tried lookng through WDS but could not find anything there.... Also tried Google of course - but no luck.
