Hi guys, first post here and itching to give this a go on my UK RHD LCI 530i, anyone know if the connector is located at the same position as the pre-LCI?

Also there is one question I'm sure nobody has yet asked, what's the difference to this mod compared to the LCI SAT transmission mod, where you only swap the entire gearshift level with Sport button etc. which apparently achieves the same result without any coding/programming. Obviously the cost is a lot more with the latter.

Thanks alot

Welcome to the e60 world... No sure how to help the connector question but there is much discussion about SAT vs SPORT mode. Sport seems to be the favorite over SAT mode. I only use SAT when I want to change gears myself..0 to 60-90 mph situations.

Read through the thread, your connector question might have been answered in here. Good Luck.

In the original post, the plug for LCI models is shown to be behind the glove compartment area. And no coding or programming is needed for this mod. Do it, you'll be glad you did!

Has anyone successfully accomplished the mod with an LCI car? I saw one post where someone wasn't successful. I'm assuming that on LCI cars you need to tap the wires that run to the connector. Is that correct? There are a lot of them and they are small gauge but I'm sure that it is possible...

Finally got the job done....the steering became so heavy when SPORT mode is on! Yes, great feeling with this simple mod.

would anyone know what each is for, or where i can find a wiring diagram.

Thanks

Definitely botched something:

-No Sport mode (not sure if wires are reaching all the way into the connector)
-DTC/DSC still works
-Seated Heats do NOT work anymore....oops

Make sure the wiring harnesses on the module that has the DTC buttons are plugged in all the way. That happened to me on a CIC retrofit and my seat adjustments wouldn't work either.

Like an idiot, I didn't reconnect the gray slide bar on the middle connector of the DSC box. Heated Seats and Sport Mode now enabled!

Thanks to OP dbond for his work here and Crckrjck for the Radio Shack part suggestion.

Ended up using 18 gauge lamp wire back to the oddments tray area. Didn't use any connectors, just jammed 3/4" of exposed wire into the slot and elec taped the wires to the others.

I came accross other thread mentioned Z4 button wiring:

Pin 1 of the switch is ground.
Pin 5 of the switch goes to DME.
Pin 2 is dimmed lighting.
Pin 4 is power.
Pin 3 goes to electronic power steering (EPS).

Of course, don't know it is ture or not.

I used a very cheap square button and stick to the side of box as shown....
