Take a step back and review to make sure it is making sense ...
The right diagram is the BMW standard WDS schematic ... the lower part that has pin #7 & #9 clearly stated A169 (Center Console Switch) which make sense due to the location and if you search all over A169 is the Center Console Switch = the switch box itself. As I mentioned it before BMW uses signal not an on/off on their wiring so when you short the 2 contacts on the Center Console Switch box then Center Console Switch send the signal to those boxes behind the glove box ... so unless we now what kind of signal the Center Console Switch send to those control boxes doing it directly on those boxes won't do anything. Or let see if we look at from another view to maybe make it more sense ... on the real thing (the car that may come factory equiped dunno somewhere) the FDC (sport) button has wiring that goes to the plug on the back of the A169 the Center Console Switch which what the right diagram laid out you'll find no indication anywhere that the wires from the FDC (sport button) goes directly to any control boxes behind the glove box.

I just followed the LCI screen shots from the first post? Is that wrong?

Just did this mod, I must say, oh my!
This is something I'm completely recommending for anyone with any of the E60 series BMW's. The transmission shifts are oh so much more aggressive, and the throttle is just oh so much more responsive, heck, the steering feels great! Just as a couple of notes, when I did this, I used took the pins out of a fan connector that looks like: http://www.allpinouts.org/images/6/6...b_fan_3pin.jpg The pins are a bit wide for the socket, but once they go in they fit. I used a momentary push button switch I picked up from Radioshack, and soldered/heatshrinked the wire onto my switch. When you're pulling out your entire trim, there WILL be a lot of force necessary to pull out certain areas. I had trouble with the bottom of the trim (where the DTC button is), and in the middle between the lower area and climate control. For the bottom, I bent a piece of aluminum in a 90 degree angle, stuck it under there, and pulled hard. It worked. For the middle, I grabbed the top of the climate control on each side and pulled like mad, they came out. For the trim itself (the long piece), I used a old ID card of mine to wedge in, that worked perfectly without scratches. I really really suggest you do this, it is an absolutely amazing mod! |
Does anyone know the VO entry ($000) for the sport automatic transmission? I am curious to replace the stock and program the trans as such. See if it makes even more of a difference. Apparently they are the same transmission just different programming.
GForce, what model do you have? Just curious. Seems the bigger the engine the more difference people are reporting. Edit : Found the VO's. $205 is standard, $2TB is SAT. |
Only Bimmers:
I drive a PL 530i, and the sport program makes a ridiculous difference! If only the freaking OEM parts weren't so expensive, I don't want to drill my trim, so I just have a push button hanging out of the bottom of my oddments tray. EDIT: Does anyone know the specific part number for the actual pins inside of the connector? I know the connector is a tyco connector, but I have a feeling that the fan-connector that I repurposed is going to bend the pins, and I'd much rather go OEM (It can't be THAT expensive) in this case. |
member Only Bimmers says:
can anyone put it together in a single DIY with pics and specific instructions for all? Part numbers, and showing how to alter the pins, etc would be great. I still haven't seen where anyone got the OEM pins & socket for each end. This is if you are going for a stock look obviously. Thanks! i ADD :+1^^^ please and thx u respect STELI |
Yes. I plan in doing this mod with OEM parts. The trim and button numbers are in this thread. I just need the OEM wiring harness number.

Here is my VO and the options translated for you. I don't see anywhere where this $2TB comes into play. I have full sports package. I just checked my workstation and that is an S option but I'm not sure what chassis it's for. For example, the K option +KMP3 is not going to work except with specific chassis' but the option does exist, I just don't think it's E chassis specific

I have a 2004 530d msport and I don't have 'sports automatic transmission'. I don't think it's included in the sport package. (or not at least on my pre-LCI)
EDIT: oops, it looks like SAT wasn't introduced until 2008. |
