After driving around in "D" for about an hour in stop and go, i came to a light and hit the sport button. When the light turned green i damn near launched into the car in front of me :) ha ha. Probably shouldn't do that when you are used to lethargic throttle mode.

With SAT, there are definitely differences, but I'm not sure if you need the SAT to see the benefits. When the Sport mode button is engaged and you switch to DS on SAT equipped LCI cars, it goes into S1, S2, S3, etc on the display. vs. M1, M2, M3. It's even more aggressive, and quite fun! :D

S1-S5 is the SAT version of DS for Steptronic transmissions, correct? Transmission still shifts on its own in that mode and M1-M6 is still there for manual shifting?

Nice! :D The laggy throttle only shows up during the summertime. It is related to high ambient temps AND high engine load with running AC AND a slightly turned steering wheel AND some other tidbits that are explained in a service bulletin. Throughout the fall and winter my 5's throttle behaves as it should, but as soon as late spring rolls around, I have to reset the throttle every few weeks.

But a launch like that sounds like M mode.

If the sport button makes the DME unit adjust the accelerator-pedal values, how might this effect a remapped engine?

I can tell you my acceleration went way up and gas mileage went way down! But its worth it when you are feeling froggy. I am convinced this is the poor man's sprint booster. Or not poor if you choose to buy the shifter trim and button. Its about even in price but you do get the added benefit of more than just a throttle change. I know it is mental but i swear my car feels like the chassis rides different during sport mode too.

Point being the 6 OEM wires and an aftermarket button run about $30.

I have my car remapped. So I suppose what I'm asking is will this FDC sport mode be switching to a different DME map? (therefore not utilising the remap?)
...of course this sounds unlikely, but I just wanted to check before installing a sport button that actually ends up reducing performance when it's pressed.

I have ready many of these posts. The one thing I keep thinking, why wasn't this leaked earlier?

I was thinking the exact same thing. Coming from the E36 then E39 forums, there is always a question about "How can i get more power". Intake swapping, Air filters, shift linkages, LSD, you name it.

This is a knock out of the park for the price:twoup: . I assume those with bigger engines and more systems like ARS, Auto Trans, etc are seeing a bigger change.
