See my comment on the previous page about this. I have the same setup in a 550.

Excellent, thanks!

One quick mod, coming right up! :)

Disagree if you want but I'm telling you what I'm telling you that pertains to my car 2004, which is fully loaded and has every option besides the cold climate options. Honestly I don't have time to figure out the differences on different models etc, but putting it in "sport" mode only changes the steering stiffness on my E60. If i put in D/S mode then it changes shifting band. Never had a problem with throttle lag so I couldn't tell you. Perhaps it's different because I upgraded all my software in 2011 to v46. Who knows..... who cares.

I guess you obviously don`t.

I know the switch and trim is expensive but i have a special deal available, 1/2 off double the price. Anyone interested?

I went out riding today for the first time and tested it. Yes, there is absolutely a difference between DS and Sport mode. In fact if you put them in Sport and DS, DS overrides the Sport control and you get 6th gear.

All i can say is when i hit that button the car drives and feels like i got out of one car and got in another on every level. Very impressed for a cheap mod. I damn near spun the car all the way around in sport mode with DSC on going around a corner with a mildly wet road.

My car will not go to 6th gear in DS.........Ive been on the highway many times doing 70 mph in DS only to look down wondering why the engine is running high rpm then realize I have to get out of DS to get my 6th gear back! Theres alot of conflicting performance differences being reported here I would think theres going to be a difference between almost every variation of the e60 depending on which you have!

re-re-installed, correctly this time

As you can see my plate and iDrive knob could use refreshing, but i'm going the cheap route for now. While installing the button I found that the cover plate has shifter related electronics built into it that probably also come on the new piece. That may help explain the high price.

Is there a how to on removing the radio faceplate to get behind there easier, I want to try this but I think theres to much to remove to have access to the back of the dsc control module!

You can look up member threads on the CIC retrofit DIY. That will give you pointers in getting behind the radio.

AFAIK, cars with a DTC button have only DTC functionality. Cars with a DSC button have both DSC and DTC, and a short press disables DSC but keeps DTC on, whereas a long press disables both.

I think they just changed the name on the button. (I have a DTC button and I can control both DTC & DSC)
Apparently the button will control DTC & DSC regardless of what's on written on it. There was a thread about it:

Go back and read the thread through. Someone posted the full instructions on removing all of this with pictures in a PDF. Towards the first few pages i believe. Hope that helps.
