It also seems that you could cut the proper size hole if you ordered the OEM button and only be out the $75, but that's still rediculous. *Guess the parts are High Speed Certified!* |
so lets say i bought a LED push button from radio shack, in order to make the led work on the push button how will i wire the switch?

If I read OP's diagram #3 correctly pin #10 is the ground so pin #9 look like the positive side of the LED indicator light.
You want to verify that ... just don't take my word as is ...

I'll have to respectfully disagree with your statements about the performance changes. The throttle response is most definitely improved, and gear changes are also much "crisper". I do believe that the changes to shift points are the same between D/S and SPORT button, but the shifts are quicker and firmer. This is on an 06 530i.

Great info and feedback on this thread! I am just trying to figure out how you get the 3 wires in the original socket that plugs into the unit. I am thinking you need to feed the wires in through the back of the plug so when plugged back in the leads make contact.

That connector has to be taken apart to make it easier to feed the wires/pins into it. If you look at right side of the connector (with it oriented as if you were trying to plug in in with the pins facing the back of the car), there is a small tab that you have to push outwards with something really flat and thin (I used a small watch-repair flat head screwdriver). On the exact opposite side of the connector, there is a small hole on the casing which exposes the inner part of the connector. While you are pushing out on the tab on one side, use another small screwdriver to push on the inner part of the connector through the hole on the opposite side and the inside piece with the wires will slide out.
Hope this helps. |
This thread is awesome, thanks OP for sharing! Anyone try this on a 545i with Active steering and Dynamic handling?
I do want to try this mod, and will probably go OEM all the way but want to see if there's a difference between DS and sport mode in a 545. Thanks!!!! :) |
