water in trunk

I moved all the electronics in the spare-tire-thingy to the area near the driver's side rear taillights. There is a SIB on the relocation. Not a biggie. Take out the trim and there is room to put the stuff. Wire tie it up nicely.
For me I sat on the key and popped the trunk open during a rainstorm while out eating. The guy at the door saw my trunk open but didn't day anything until I was at my table for 15 mins. Hey was too busy staring at my girls azz. But he knew it was my car bc he watched us get out of the car. But it's all good.. car fixed
i pulled all of the water out of the spare tire and battery wells, cleaned and dried all of the switches and wires let the car run for about an hour and everything came back on, only issue now is the sunroof shade wont move, the sunroof goes back but not the shade

i had the same issue and it destroyed all the electrical components in the wheel well.
(brilliant engineering BMW). After a few calls to BMWUSA they paid for 50% of the repair and
they did move the components and insulated the wire harness. Never had another problem with water in the truck since.
