My water pump just went out and there was coolant everywhere. I'm gonna change it out myself my is a 2004 with 75k.

Do you guys think I should change the thermostat as well since im taking out the water pump?

 

If you're already in there I don't see why not. Also, do you mean your expansion tank blew and not the water pump?

 

Expansion tank is fine the water pump was leaking coolant from the pulley area. The pulley was making noise before this happened.

 

its usually recommended to change the t-stat also.

 

I might just change the damn thing now before it blows since they ALL seem to eventually.

I just went ahead and ordered the t-stat as well might as well do it all at once. Got a pretty good deal on autopartswarehouse.com paid $200 shipped for t-stat and water pump!!

 

I just r&r (diy) my waterpump 2 weeks ago (also a 545) but bought my pump from the dealers, with no thermostat . That $200 is one heck of a deal you got. If you need help with the install, let me know. Good luck
