Hey guys, so as I stated in my last thread my throttle valve actuator recently failed. I called BMW NA to file a claim (as I am out of warranty) and my dealer recently called me back today. They said they would cover the cost of the part ($1050), but I would be responsible for the labor ($1060). Does anyone know where I can find BMWs estimated repair time for such a fix? I think 10 hours of labor is far too much to replace the actuator, but without any proof I can't prove it. Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Matt

Sorry to hear of your troubles but try googling "Auto repair time estimates" and you'll come across hundreds of sites.

The problem is most of those sites require a subscription. Good luck.

My info says the part is Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic # 13417834495 $637.38
1.1 hours labor.

Asked local indy shop. Shows no more than 2 hours. Yet again, dealership lives up to the name: "stealership".

+1 for actually checking with an independent shop, you might come out ahead purchasing the part yourself from tischer or garry and just paying for a non dealership to do the service, perhaps that's why your dour dealership is "eating" the cost of the part itself..

That's actually not the part. This is the part number for the part: 13627834494

Where did you come up with your labor hours from? What would be the labor hours for the part number I listed?

Thanks,

Matt
