OMG 7 to $9k? That's outrageous. I'll go out and buy a beater for that.
That looks like what it's going to be, it isn't coming from anything on the outside. Sure looks easy coming off ...I'll have to watch it again later, with sound. Thanks.

OK, the good news is that I was able to extract the broken drain bolt. Good thing it broke, otherwise I would have never known that only one of two o-rings were on the plug. The bad news..the pump was never the source of the coolant leak. I found the leak, but now I'm at a loss on what to do next. It's coming from a hole on the block itself. At least I did good on the pump install.
Was there a cap/bolt that you removed that covers this hole to see this leak? Or this is an OEM drain hole from the intake manifold to let owner knows that the coolant crossover pipe is leaking?
Removing the intake manifold doesn't seem to be that hard other than making sure new gaskets/sealant are used and torque down the bolts evenly according to OE spec
I wished you were in Dallas, TX. I'd be more than willing to help so next I'm prepared.
This fix would be a COOL N62 shop day

Wow. Sorry about that. I removed my intake few weeks ago... It takes some time, but it is not that hard. Let me know if you need any help with this project.

@Salaki, Yes a lot of the time wasted is in trying to figure out how to do things. The first time I took the fan off, it took me a good hour. second time, just 5 minutes. Hopefully my pain will be someone else's gain down the road. BTW Lake Jackson is only about a 6 hour drive from Dallas.

Started estimating the cost for parts. The AGA pipe kit is $606 according to their website. plus about 120 for the valley pan cover, all the fastners and gaskets needed. If I decide to do the valve cover gasket here, throw in another 100 for each side. The stock pipe is less than 100 but there is no way to put it in short of pulling the lower timing chain cover, which is going to be very time consuming. The other option is to cut the stock pipe and use a hose with clamps..pipe kit is starting to sound like money well spent, considering the amount of time and money it will take to get to this pipe.

i would only do that, if you also brace the pipe so that it doesnt bend or flex where you cut it. cause if it moves around, the seals on the ends will wear prematurely.
but you're better off buying the kit, and doing it right.

I wish I am free in the next few weeks to drive down to H-Town visit friends while helping you out.
The 6 hours drive is too far unless I plan ahead.
Best of luck on the install, if you don't mind, please snap some pics of the install and maybe post the dos/donts during the install to help fellow DIY V8 owners

Thanks, I am taking lots of pictures. I think I need to change the title of this thread, what will make it sound more relevant to the topic?
