Noticed a water stain in my headliner above the right rear passenger door. Took it to my detail guy who says the seal in the crease at the top corner of the right rear of the car must be leaking. Funny thing is the seal/area on the other side of the car looks the exact same, they look like they have a little channel in there that water runs through.

Anyone have a similar leak issue? 06 550i

Sunroof drains are clogged and you need a new sunroof seal. If under warranty see if you can get the seal replaced. I was out of warranty and was quoted $1200 to replace the entire sunroof cassette. Needless to say I did some research here and fixed it myself. I changed the sunroof seal and removed the plugs at the end of the rear drain hoses. No problems since.

Just read the DIY sunroof seal threads and it obviously seems super easy to do. Can't find anything on clearing the plugs or drain hoses... any idea where I could find that? Searched and came up with nothing.

You'll need these as well. I pointed out the SIB to the dealer (funny I didn't know I was a BMW tech) and they performed it but wouldn't guarantee it would fix the problem. The plugs I removed just to keep the from clogging on the future. If you remove the back tires and the wheel well lining they're about as big around a a nickel, black and basically have an X cut in them. Sorry, I'm not sure if there's pics anywhere, I just found them by description. I think most of the water gets in due to the seal around the sunroof and then leaks through the collectors in the corners. Change the seal and silicone around the collectors well per the SIB and you should be all good.
