BUT, this forum is a fantastic resource and the guys here should pull something together

The car definitely WON'T need any programming. Mine burnt out earlier this year and I replaced it myself. The hardest part is getting that nasty a$$ burnt popcorn smell out of your car.

I received your PM and I will be happy to help however I can.

This is a major design flaw in my opinion. Why on earth would BMW place electronics in one of the few places water can collect? Retarded.

If you're still having trouble then you may need to cut/splice in a good connector with 6 inches of wire in place of your old/burned one.
The K-CAN bus communicates over this same wiring harness and if damaged won't allow the MPM to turn on the:
Front Fuse Holder:
F34 10A CCC/M ASK
F35 5A NAV
F36 7.5A Comfort Access & Door handle Modules
F38 10A CD Changer
F40 10A DVD Changer

Rear fuses that feed the MPM are:
F57 20A
F52 10A
F60 7.5A

Provided your car is a Sept '05 build or earlier. From the pictures I've seen you've had a meltdown. Check the connector to the MPM
and the wiring leading away from it. A lot of amperage flows through this harness. Make sure there isn't any funk in the connector
or insulation melted on the wiring.

Good luck! Keep us posted!

I did purchase some electrical cleaner and sprayed it all over the melted area. The connector is now and clean for the most part but no luck yet.

The wiring looks good. And the mating area looks as good as the back of the connector?

Here's an excerpt from http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/r...0e61/index.htm

Switching on terminal 30<57
In the following cases, the relay for switching on terminal 30<57 is activated:

the first time the power supply is applied to the micro power module

when there is a voltage level at the input of terminal 15

terminal R is ON

on locking or unlocking the vehicle

on opening or closing the luggage compartment lid

on opening or closing a door

Switching off terminal 30<57
In the following cases, the relay for switching off terminal 30<57 is activated:

when the starting capability limit of the battery is reached

if the number of ?Wake-up signals? reaches a threshold of 30

when there is an undervoltage (U < 9 V) with bus activity for a period of time greater than 60 seconds

when the remains awake after a period of 60 minutes.

You are familiar with at least part of this from your previous post.
Maybe you've exceeded the 30 threshold of wakeup signals or your car is not going to sleep. Not sure if an OBD reader or indie can reset this.

I'll keep digging. Hopefully someone with knowledge will chime in

DON'T GIVE UP!!!!

Yes I fixed it. I bought a new Micro Power Module from BMW for $175 and took the car to a local indy shop for reprogramming for $180. The shop also found a few burned fuses which they replaced.

Sweet great job! but I having the same problems as you Mine Got burnt yesterday this post was alot of help I just hope nothing else burned on mine. I got a question thou when the MPM was burnt out, was all your power knocked out meaning power, windows power, locks, power mirrors etc and my dash is dead I was driving the car while all my gauges and everything was off it was like driving while the car was off in park and I would take my key out and my wipers wouldn't stop lol was this caused by the MPM being messed up? N I checked the fuses only 1 blew which was the lighter lol. I have a E60 04.

Any Help would be appreciated

Thank You!

Car has to be programmed. I pulled a fried TPM out of my car today. Called my bro n law (BMW mech) and he said they all require programming. Said it would take a half hour (less for some of us).
