Got my carback today....Yeehah. All Fixed and appears good. BMW Dealer said that the water came in through a kinked seal on the rear light cluster which must have been there since assembly of the car. I did ask them for a full report on what was replaced but was told that it is not usual to give warranty information to customers. I will follow this up with BMWUK. Anyhow I'm happy that all is OK currently.
I also found out that the CIP version is is now 21.2

A Bit of an update on my 535 after a few weeks - The car drives very differently now that the main control unit has been replaced and recoded. Gear changes are not as smooth, economy is worse and I suspect this is due to the fact that the gearbox allows revs to hold on longer before changing. Also sometimes I get odd things happen like when the key is completely removed from the car and the doors shut and locked the Idrive display stays on the main menu - not sure for how long got bored watching!
Still the car is v rapid and holds the road like you're driving around with copydex on your tyres. It's a real quality feel to the ride.
