It's real simple. The tank is located behind the front bumper in front of the driver's wheel. Just turn the wheel to the right and loosen the front half of the inner fenderliner for access.

I have to replace mine but haven't found the time yet. Pretty soon...

What year is your car?

Depending on how good of a "customer" you are at your dealer, I had my pump replaced under goodwill at one of my last "visits". Much easier than DIY. Mine was out of warranty.

It's a 08. I don't doubt that there are good persons working in the dealership. But my dealership store is really brutal when it comes to billing. I want to do a DIY if I can. I'm sure I need more tools than I have right now.

Update: got a vision on the leaking. The leak can be seen at the circled part:

^^^Suggest you get a BMWCCA membership - among other things, you will get 10% off all parts and labor at dealerships. Between this and the Roundel subscription I've got back more than what I paid in membership dues so far.

It's not much when compared to dealer prices, but it does help.

It's a very simple DIY. Even if you have to do it twice - once to figure out what to buy, and again to do the actual fix - it's probably less trouble than arranging a dealer visit, getting a ride / loaner, etc.

I just had a variant of this: No fluid pumping at all to windshield, I verified there is plenty of fluid in the tank. But get this - fluid pumped to the rear windshield (this is an '06 wagon). Are there two pumps?

Sounds like the line going to your front windshield is clogged. Here's a schematics listing.

I replaced my pump the other weekend and all is well again. Curiously, I opened (hammered til it split) the old one and found the entire DC motor all rusted around the casing, but mysteriously the motor still worked - even though it leaked.

I also had a small leak at the pump front wheel well area. Started investigating then disconnected and removed the small washer pump. After realizing what the problem I decided to cleaned it up a bit and then wiped everything down and rein stall it with the intent of ordering a new one. Interestingly, the next morning there was no water on the floor of my garage. This was last year and it's been doing fine ever since. I guess it will eventually go so better I go ahead and order one just to have on hand.
