Are the prices of warranty different depending on the location you call?
I called a local BMW dealer and they quoted me $3000+ for I believe 2 years or 100,000 miles.
I remember some people saying they had warranty at $1600 and some say its half if you renew while still under warranty.

I have a third party warranty through Mercury and it's awesome. Then again it is the highest and most comprehensive plan available by them (Mercury Platinum) and costs around $2,500-$3,000 for 4 years/50k miles I think.
The difference in prices is difference in coverage, deductible, etc. Don't get suckered in by some warranties that barely cover anything. I've heard horror stories about those. All in all, Mercury has been great about my repairs.
