Page 88 of the 2008 535i manual indicates that "On vehicles with a single drive, you can increase or decrease the volume of the warning tones". It shows an option in the Idrive as volume settings appearing in the same menu as the equalizer. I have L7 and the equalizer but no volume settings option. Just fader then equalizer. I have tried the radio volume control but it did nothing. What is a vehicle equipped with a "single drive"? Is there any other way to turn down the PDC warning tone?
Thx

I think a single drive car is one without professional navigation.

Thanks...I must have professional nav which must mean that the warning tones are not user adjustable. I filled in the details you mentioned.

Well that should explain things...
Thanks for completing the profile and signature -- you'll soon find that it's quite helpful to have that information readily available to the forum as you ask questions, etc.

I don't know about PDC tones, but I discovered that you can modulate the volume of "key in ignition", "door open", "freezing temperature" etc warning tones. Put the key (fob) in, keep driver's door open, don't press ignition. The "key" light will illuminate and the warning gong will sound. Adjust the volume of the gong by turning the radio volume control. It worked on my 535xi with standard sound system.

We had this discussion recently, lots of people saying "it works on my car" and just as many saying "but it doesnt work on mine". Those WITH nav (e.g., the more expensive and better equipped ones!) cannot adjust the volume. Those without nav CAN adjust the volume.
