How do these guys jack the car up without the alarm going off. Both times when I've tried to do this myself I've set the alarm off.
No ideas?

Sorry to hear about that man.

I live in New York City, and theft happens quite often in my area. I've had my motorcycle stolen a few years and vandalism on my old car (Trying to steal my spoiler on my honda years ago.).

It really sucks. Dont you wish you can catch these guys and beat them till the cops come?

What's worst is, if you do catch them, and they run away before the cops come, they can always come back to your house and try again, or vandalize something, when you have no idea where or who they are. It just sucks.

I'm planning on getting a set of M5 wheels and I'm worried about this kind of theft. I park in a driveway. I guess only safeguard is the Mcgard locks. (and hidden poisonious darts to shoot at theives, with infared detection, and poisionious gas too) HAHA.

Good luck, and glad you were able to get an insurance claim with your wheels back.

Hi,

Just thought would give everyone an update. I've had 2 sets of Mcguards put on each wheel and taken off the original BMW locking nuts. To put it in perspectve, apparently this problem is more widespread. It's happened to another car around the Manchester region, the problem lies in the fact that there are about 10-20 bmw master keys which a thief (in the know) can get hold of.

You have been warned but please for the sake of ?70, get yourself sorted.

Cheers,

WOW, i'm sorry to hear what happened to your car. I had my e39 stripped a couple of years ago in an indoor parking lot. I'm pretty sure it was an inside job. They took my wheels, full spare, xenon lights, cd changer. The strange thing is they did not damage any of my harnesses or wires to the lights or cd. The car was left on flat spare old wheels leaning on the walls so when you back up you don't hit the wall. They did make a small hole in the driver side door next to the key lock and pealed the metal like a sardine can. They manage to get there hand inside the hole and move the mechanism around until it opened the door and disabled the alarm. They were lucky I had just washed the car before I came home and parked it. I had the police dust the car for any finger prints but unfortunately there were none. If there were any I would have had the police compare them to the employees at that lot. There is no reason for their prints to be on my car. Nice try...

sorry to hear about your loss !!! i hate the thieving scum that do these things !!!!

hope you get new wheels on soon. i know hindsight is a good thing, sounds like you've had the best advice already, keep the BMW locking bolts on but also fit a set of McGard Ultra's as well. i've used these on my last 3 BMW's and (touch wood) never lost a wheel to the scum of this world yet.

Keep smiling, all will be well soon and you can get back to enjoying your car.

Do you Choppy101 have the factory BMW Security Alarm System in you car?

In US it's standard but not in the EU

Bruce, it's probably jacked up on either end at the same time, keeping the car level.
