How do these guys jack the car up without the alarm going off. Both times when I've tried to do this myself I've set the alarm off.

I hate people that steal, get a F'in life people. Sorry to hear that. Watch out on Ebay, thats where they will most likely try to unload them. Take the insurance money and upgrade to some new wheels.

Thanks.
Went out and bought a set already for the wife's 1 series.
I'll probably go with your recommended 2 sets for mine when it comes back with the new wheels.
I remember reading something about an offer online from the m5boards. for a discounted ?32.99 inc p+p..

By far the best you can get are McGard Ultra. Have won all recent Autoexpress tests.
27179SL is the model number you need for your car.
Rather expensive at about 35 quid or so, but well worth it. Allegedly they can be done, too, but only with electric tools, a lot of noise and pretty long amount of time making noise. Get 2 sets and place 2 of them per wheel and you'll be laughing. DON'T loose the key.
The tools they use take the BMW locks easily. They are a sort of self gripping/cutting sleeves, that just go over the bolts, bite in and take them out. Not that easy with the McGards.
If required I can dig out the link from where I bought mine.

Hmm, how much were they and are they like the "ultra" spinning top mcgards or the non spinning standards?

sorry to hear about that man. those kinds of things are absolutely unnecessary, but they do happen. good luck in upgrading to new wheels though.

Hello, woke up this morning to find all 4 of my 172 M wheels stolen. Car is jacked up on bricks.
Just a warning to others..
1. The locking bolts from BMW will only stop the opportunist thief.
2. Be suspicious of any used 172 M wheels around the North West London area.

Honestly, if they can't break one, according to the AE test, 2 probably won't be necessary, but then if it makes us sleep better.

OK, that's wrapped up.
Local BM dealer will have the car today.
I've made sure they're putting on a set of the ACS (Mcgard) locks as standard.
I'm gonna order some MG ultras just as a backup.
Dealer said the thieves were targetting 172M wheels so watch out...
Thanks everybody!

I've only got one set of McGards and a set of other tuner locks I got with my wheels.
