This bong gets on my nerves too! How thick do BMW think we all are that we need this???? Got it in our golf too and it scares the blazes out of me on a cold morning and you are still half asleeep and get in and ready to set off and it BONGS!!!!! 
Bong! Car says its cold outside....I say yes I know, I've just came in from out there!
Bong! Car says it needs washer fluid....I say I've checked and there's plenty what the hell are you on about!
Bong! Car says it needs fuel.....I say yes I know cos the dial thingy has already told me that.
And so on!
If this can be silenced I'm going to do it

A simple way to do it is using an old seat belt piece and sticking it in there. It doesn't know if its your seat belt are just a piece. Could be a hassle of taking it out when you really need to buckle up but I have seen people do it.

If you want to do something really funny, put on the speed limit really low so you can make it "Bong" easily, then play Doin Time by Sublime. Once someone does it, you will know why i said to try it.
