I hear all the time that forum members have been taking their cars to a track. Does anyone know a place in the LA area that allows this?

Not sure what their rules are exactly for personal road cars, but California Speedway in Fontana is nice.

Don't bother with their oval, go for the sports car track in the infield!

Oh yeah, its a bit far but if you can make it to Monterey, go to Laguna Seca - arguably the best track in North America. Again, I'm not too familiar with their rules as I'm in NY and have only been to them for Skip Barber, but I'm sure you can go. Monterey is also great in August when they have the Pebble Beach Concours (if you're into classic cars) and golf of course.

Sorry about the separate posts (its midnight here and I'm a bit buzzed :-)

Have you joined BMWCCA???
They'll take you out for some track events. You get to know other owners too.

For a first timer I'd suggest BMWCCA...the events are much more structured and safe than other groups. The way it works is the track is rented out to a group that organizes the event, so you need to do it through a group like CCA or tracquest or Racerfactory, etc.

Can't beat a racing school or an organized event, but for an easy or aggressive drive, try out the malibu canyons. Just watch out for the cops as I hear they're cracking down.

Do they post events in the monthly news letter?

I drive them every day. Decker, and Mulholland Hwy are the best. The problem is it is easy to get some morron in his minivan driving in your lane........No where to go. You almost have to do it at night, so you can see headlights.
