VRSF 535i downpipe
I have some great news for some of you that are still awaiting a reasonably priced, high quality 3" Inch downpipe. I received a set of downpipes from VRSF last week to do some fitment testing and did not get to installing them until yesterday... Fitment was spot on and the tech that was working on my car said he was impressed with the ease of install and quality of the downpipes. As some of you know our cars can be a little trickier compared to the 335i/135.
On to the fun stuff then...
Sound- immediately upon start-up I noticed subtle difference. A sound I hadn't heard before from my muffler-deleted 535i -- the famous crackle crackle pop. On the drive home I noticed there was more turbo noise and a bit of rasp which I actually liked a-lot.
Performance- I haven't had much seat time since the install and could not really get into it too much as the weather we have been seeing in Chicago right now wouldn't allow me to have too much fun but anyways.. right off the bat I noticed a difference, throttle response seemed like it had improved although it could be a placebo sort of effect, the car definitely was more rev happy. Spool seems to have improved dramatically and my butt dyno says gains are there with NO tuning changes. 3rd gear pulls would take me sideways and yeah it was mostly due to the snow on the ground but it does feel like the quicker spool plays a role there . I will update this thread with some logs when I have some more seat time with less crazier weather
Price- I am not sure if Tiago from VRSF wants to release pricing before it goes into production however I will say that this is MUCH cheaper than any of the other downpipe offerings currently available for the 535i.
Here are a few pictures I managed to snap with my phone before they went in. I will get a few more of it actually sitting in the car when I get an oil change today as I had run out of time yesterday.
My dog also hated the catted downpipes much rather prefers the kittyless VRSF downpipes
