voice recognition does not work

My Ride: E60 535d sport saloon M57 Titanium silver nav-pro, bluetooth, media pack, de-chromed, eletric sun roof, auto dim int, folding ext mirrors, auto dim int mirror, sport seats, alum cube interior trim, headlamp washers, bi Xenon, M-sport suspention, M steering wheel, M Aerodynamic bodystyling, M styling wheels, Black leather, Anthacite heading

I have just taken my car to the dealer because my voice recognition button on the steering wheel doesn't work and the dealer said that it is a option if you have
professional navigation system. Has any one got the same problem or and I being fogged of

It's an option here in France. I have SatNav Pro and not the voice recognition option thus the button on the steering wheel that is inactive.

No, your dealer is right, it is now a cost option.

I've just had it retrofitted - ?180

I had exactly the same problem with my car and I reclaim from the dealer to install it free. When I ordered the car I made my options choice from the main BMW E60 brochure and it was written for the Professional Telephone "voice command". Now that voice command it's operacional I realize that is very difficult to prononce portuguese names with englisd accent in order to be understood by the system. Conclusion: Useless...

Yes, I think the options for the portuguese market are: German, English and Spanish. I'm considering to change it to spanish. Maybe it can recognize portuguese names better...
