Beware that even though the UK E60 brochure still shows extended voice for 50 pounds AKA "the switch" BMW now charge 250 quid for the activation key !! It was previously free

Sadly I have found this out personally

I think that is your dealer making up a story. The activation codes are still free but have to be obtained from Germany. Your dealer is trying to charge you for the time it takes to upgrade the software.

You obviously didn't read what I wrote earlier.

Bluetooth + No Nav = Basic Voice for phone only
Bluetooth + Business Nav = Basic Voice for phone only
Bluetooth + Professional Nav = No Voice
Bluetooth + Professional Nav + Extended Voice = Extended Voice for phone and iDrive
Snap. "In which case is it a reprogrammable option, or have I had it?"

Extended Voice Input can be retrofitted. It needs a kit that you can buy from the accessories brochure and then requires the car to be reprogrammed.

That what they tried to do, hence the week in getting back to me, but they got told that the Ex Voice codes are now chargeable unless you have the option from the factory in the original build spec, greedy BMW im afraid getting paid twice for a software licence, must be a recent change.

Mine is a retrofit business nav to pro nav. Still cost me 2.5 hours labour at 100 quid an hour to have it coded and software in the CCC updated without extended voice control, and thats with me fitting the parts ! It does look different than before and ive got my centre vent control back.

Houses might be cheaper up north, but BMW dealers are not !!

Does anyone have the part number for this retrofit kit? Is it an easy DIY?
