Hey guys,
I have a friend who is going through a divorce. The attorney for the petitioner (the other party) asked for her VIN number. Anyone know the importance of that?

It's hard to tell intentions. As mentioned...it could be as simple as identifying assets...meaning a "black BMW 5 series" isn't sufficient to "identify" the car. If there was a boat, motorcycle, RV, piano, guitar, etc. involved...those items would also have identification numbers and those numbers would be part of any listing of those items.
