Default Vibration driving at idle only

Hello all,

So, start of problems with my e60 with 57 000 kms. While driving if I put the automatic gearbox in neutral the car vibrates a lot, and it's the same vibration at any speed higher than 30kph.
The same happens in D if the gearbox goes at 800rpm. The gearchanges are nice and sweet, always at the right time.

The steering wheel seems to be vibrating too from times to time, acceleration/cruise/braking. The front axle have been checked recently everything is fine.

I don't know where to look. Stopped, at idle, the engine seems to be vibrating, the air intake vibrates too which seems not normal.

Any clue ?
Thanks for any help,
Matt

Check for a worn motor mount.

Hey thanks for the answer
I am surprised engine mount would fail at this low mileage but it's rubber after all

I noticed that the engine moves quite a bit when shifting between R and D

Would a bad engine mount make my steering wobble on uneven roads and breaking ? I noticed that recently
the front brakes and suspensions have been checked my a mechanics and they're fine apparently (safety controls)

Thanks for the help!

Check your transmission fluid level. It will cause what you're explaining if it's low. Also check your plugs and for vacuum leaks. Those are the only things I can see why it's vibrating at idle other than motor or transmission mounts

Hey thanks for the answer.

I'll check the transmission fluid level.

You mean check the heater plugs? You thing it looses compression?

What I find weird is that this issue is only idle rpm while driving.

Thanks again, I'll start by checking engine/transmission mounts asap

Hello,

So, I am changing engine mounts
However on the 520d the one on the right side is terribly hard to access. I have no point to put the jack on from under
And from the front compartment I can't reach the screws
Does anyone has any idea how is it supposed to be removed?

Use a piece of 2x4 and lift engine slightly. Are the mounts bad

I was meaning the access is impossible, to remove the screws of the mount and the mount itself

The E10 and 16mm bolts? They are under something but it can be accessed with the right tool. From the top you remove the bolt

Yes
The one in the back is hard to reach, and I cannot catch the mount to put the new one in

I have removed some ducts and cables but more than that would be cooling pipes and it just doesn't seem right
