Hey all, I was hoping someone may be able to shed some light on a problem I've been having. Around 60-70 mph, my vehicle begins to shake rather violently, enough to rattle the side windows. I've been told by numerous wheel/tire experts that my wheels are perfectly balanced, and there's nothing wrong with my alignment. However, I can't seem to aleviate the problem. I'm running 20x8.5s w/255/30ZRs all around. The problem was there before I put the wheels on, but not as pronouced... I just figured I can feel it more now due to less rubber... I'm afraid if I take the car to my local dealer, they'll tell me I'm on my own, due to my aftermarket wheels, tires, and suspension... PLEASE HELP!
Thanks all!
Thanks all!

how many miles does your car have? have a certified BMW tech take a look at the front suspension control arms and bushings and well as the rear suspension.

Did the wheel shops use the Hunter road force balance machines? I had two tire shops with regular equipment tell me that my vibrating front wheels were perfectly balanced - and a visit to a Hunter equipped shop proved otherwise and fixed my vibration issue. My left front tire was the issue. The Hunter machine applies pressure to the wheel/tire during testing to simulate real usage, it will find out of round tires and will also let the tire shop match the lowest spot on the wheel to the highest spot on the tire. It pretty much fixed my problem and I'll only be using Hunter equipped shops from now on. Hunter's web site can point you to a local shop and gives a lot more background on the process and how it differs from the standard machines in use at many wheel/tire shops.

Your problem is common when going to large wheels and lower profile tires all around. After trying everything, my dealer got me 4 new PS2's. Fortuitously, the 4 newbies helped some. I reduced the problem to barely noticeable by running 2 more PSI in the front than the rear. I like 34 F and 32 R. But, there aren't many potholes around here, and I like a softish ride.

Thanks to all for your responses. This gives me good information to diagnose and (hopefully) correct the problem. Cheers!
