I was thinking of getting ventilated seats until this week.

For the past 3 days I?ve been driving a Volvo S80 (nice car, very, uh, Swedish) and it has the ventilated seat option. Seats (like all Volvos) are very comfortable but I?m not sure I like the ventilation.

I realize in very hot climes it would be a great option but New York is not Arizona.

So I am wondering what others here think of this option from their own personal experience.

I agree that their usefulness is questionable in the northeast (kind of like heated seats in Arizona). But my real gripe is that I don't like the look of the ventilated seats - anyone's. I really don't think all those little holes look very attractive.

I have never driven a car with them and since I now live in Florida, I think they would be very nice to have. The only problem is as we add items to the car, it gets very pricing so unless money is not an issue then go for items that are most important. Good Luck

I once saw a Cadillac that had perforated leather seats. The seats must have been cleaned with a fairly powerful vacuum, as scores of small fibers from the back side of the leather were protruding from the holes.

While BMW may have thought of this possibility, I can assure you that it was not an attractive look.

Well since my eyes are not attached to my rear end, I don't care; I do however like being comfortable.

I did opt for the ventilated Nasca leather seats on my 07 550 - no disappointment whatsoever with the quality of the leather and the perforations (especially since the ventilation option is only available with the comfort seats). The look also lends some sportiness to the interior. The Nasca if far superior to the perforated leather on my previous Infiniti G35 coupe. As for the Ventilation function - virtually useless. Can barely detect any cool air unless you're wearing shorts. Definitely not what one would imagine with a blower under your -ss.

I think ventilated seats are very useful (should be in all convertibles). On long trips I frequently find myself lifting my back off the seat because I'm sweating. Minor complaint, but it would be very useful to have this feature for this reason. My other car is a Honda s2000 and damn near every day while driving with the top down my back is stuck to my shirt. I wouldn't pay $1000+ for this feature though.

I used them extensively on a few M-B's and found them to work well. I ordered them on the E60 that's being built now and I only hope they work as well as the one's in the M-B's...
