Default Vehicle Check, what does that mean ?

On the idrive it says that I need a vehicle Check. What does this entail? Is there a pdf or manual on what it needs? And how does it get cleared? Thanks...

Take it to a trusty mechanic bro.

Odds are, if you're here asking us what a vehicle check is, you aren't qualified to do the check yourself. Don't take that personally, I'm sure less than 10% of the people on this forum are fully qualified to conduct a thorough vehicle check.

Lol, non taken. Thanks for the advise. But if I take it to a shop how do I know they did what they were supposed to do and not just clear the code and that's it...

It's always good to know what's getting done to the car.
Looked around and found this at bimmerfest. Not detailed but it looks like it's mostly a visual inspection. Don't get me wrong visual inspections are well needed but wanted a general idea of what is getting looked and and what is getting done.

Personally my view is different on the vehicle check. IT IS ONLY A VISUAL CHECK!!! My wife went and had it done to my car 3 months ago when I was out of the country. She was charged $160 at the stealership for it. This is something I have always done my self because the most they do is hook it up to see if the IMs are worth addressing and 9.5 times out of 10 it is not (they do this almost never). They do not take anything apart. They check your fluid levels, brakes, check for oil leaks and a couple of other things (from the horses mouth). I know because I was pissed and called them because they told my wife that there was something wrong with the car that is why the message popped up then I told them they lied to get the check done and I wanted my money back which they did after I talked to the manager. Do not waist your money if you are out of warranty. You can do the check yourself and save. My car has 150k on it and that was the only time it has had the check.

No longer have my E60 but it's a simple reset in iDrive. It is a reminder for things like annual inspection stickers. No need to go to the dealer, just reset it...
