"Vehicle Check"

'84 Nissan S12 Turbo
I got a warning today on the I-Drive that I am due for a "Vehicle Check" in 1500 miles.
If I elect to take the car to the dealer, what do they do for this? Is it basically a visual check? What is the typical cost, and what do they check?
I'm thinking I will just reset the counter for this in the I drive

They'll look your car over and tell you all the work that you'll pay for now that you're on your own dime!
